TIJ hosted its first “RoLD Virtual Forum,” using 'ZOOM Application'
In these past few weeks, amidst fear and worries of the wide-spreading Corona Virus, or “Covid-19” outbreak, organizations are now encouraging employees to “work from home” to avoid the risk of being in contact with the virus while traveling through crowded public areas.
The Thailand Institute of Justice (TIJ) is aware of the severity of this issue. In an attempt to keep the dialogue on social issues up and running while averting the risk of viral infection, on 12 March 2020, the TIJ hosted its first online conference “RoLD Virtual Forum” titled “Partnership Model for Social Reintegration”. Utilizing the power of the 'ZOOM' application, the Forum aimed to explore potential collaborations between the public and private sector to assist ex-prisoners to be smoothly re-integrated into the society.
Speakers at the Forum were; Dispanadda Diskul, Chief Executive Officer of the Mae Fah Luang Foundation; Dr. Ekniti Nitithanprapas, Director General of the Revenue Department, the Ministry of Finance; Jiraporn Khaosawas, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of the PTT Oil and Retail Business Public Company Limited; Ruenvadee Suwanmongkol, Secretary General of the Securities and Exchange Commission; Jaran Ngamvirojcharoen, Chief Data Scientist and VP of Data Innovation Lab, SERTIS Co., Ltd., and Tissana Thitisaksakul, Chief Executive Officer of Noburo Platform Co., Ltd. The discussions were moderated by Chontit Chuenurah, Director of the Office of the Implementation of the UN Bangkok Rules, TIJ. Over 30 RoLD Fellows attended the Forum remotely from their homes via the ZOOM application.
The TIJ previously utilized the ZOOM application to organize the 1st and 2nd “Borderless Youth Forum” in March and October, 2019. More than 200 youth leaders from 50 countries around the world joined the forums without having to leave their homes. The TIJ saw the opportunity to utilize this tool again in the hopes that the proper use of technology in the months to come will help us overcome the threats of the deathly virus.
